RUTLAND & STAMFORD SOUND: ON STAGE

Sat 18 May 2024

For the first time, the new local community radio station Rutland & Stamford Sound is putting on a night of entertainment to raise funds for the Corn Exchange, and for the not for profit radio station. As well as playing a broad mix of popular songs from across the decades, and the most in depth and up to date local information, Rutland & Stamford Sound is committed to supporting local music. Come along to the night, and you’ll hear some of the local acts you’ll hear on the radio!

Already confirmed is Stamford singer-songwriter Chloe Lorentzen, along with one of the long standing Strictly singers! Hayley Sanderson lives locally, and is also in demand as a session and live singer for touring and recording.

We’ve secured six great acts in one night of entertainment!  From Stamford singer-songwriter Chloe Lorentzen, to Rutland singer-songwriter Grace Arnold, and for the first time one of the long standing and most versatile Strictly singers! Hayley Sanderson lives locally, and is also in demand as a session and live singer for touring and recording.  Add to that a snapshot of the musical theatre scene, with some of the best to have performed locally.  Rutland Musical Theatre, Stamford Showstoppers, and new vocal group Broadway Bao!

Most people know Hayley as one of the lead vocalists on Strictly Come Dancing, however she’s also generally considered to be one of the finest vocalists on the scene today as is one of the most in-demand freelance singers. Her versatility sets her apart and makes her an asset to shows and studio sessions. Hayley has also worked as a lead vocalist in her own right on projects with Nile Rogers, Narada Michael Walden, Rick Wakeman, Gilbert O’ Sullivan and Trevor Horn. She also works as a vocal arranger and writer, and has worked with many well-known names, from McFly and Take That, to Cher, Barry Manilow, Sia and Jennifer Hudson. More recently Hayley has created a project for schools called ‘Singsation’ and has been working with Lincolnshire music service, including a day at Stamford Welland Academy involving local primary schools.

Chloe Lorentzen, 18 year old singer-songwriter, has played hundreds of times across the country, supporting the likes of James Walsh from Starsailor, Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet and Ren Harvieu. She has an impressive catalogue of self-penned songs and has been the youngest to win BBC Introducing Track Of The Week on multiple stations. Currently working with acclaimed keyboard player for The The, Chloe is working on her new album with a plan to breakthrough. You can hear Chloe’s songs on Rutland & Stamford Sound too!

About Grace Arnold

Grace has been singing since she was small, from solos in the school choir to performing at London’s Barbican with Uppingham Children’s Choir.  She started composing songs as a teenager and performs regularly at local gigs in and around Rutland.  She’s written and produced a number of singles, including a song which raised awareness of mental health in lockdown, the video has been viewed thousands of times.

About Rutland Musical Theatre

Fresh from a sold out run last month of The Addams Family, RMT was founded in 1980, and still has links to its original members.  From Showboat to Avenue Q, Anything Goes to Sweeney Todd, Rutland Musical Theatre has been widely praised for its quality performances.  For this special evening, we have a small group of the current team with a selection of musical theatre favourites.

About Stamford Showstoppers

Stamford Showstoppers was formed in June 2019 to bring the classic musical ‘Chicago’ to the town.  Since then it’s won regional awards and performed Frozen Jr with its younger members, Six with a teen cast, and filled the Corn Exchange with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and CATS.  Next is Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and the cast are showing us some specially rehearsed performances for tonight’s show!

About Broadway Bao

Broadway Bao is a new vocal group which made its first public performance just a few weeks ago at the Corn Exchange Theatre Lounge.  Tom and Charlie from the group will perform for us.  Tom’s starred in Tolethorpe’s production of A Winter’s Tale and written his own comedy show at the Camden Fringe.  He also has a grade eight in singing pop vocals from the London Board of Music.  Charlie has worked on many shows locally including Tolethorpe Theatre Makers and from there formed his own youth theatre group called Runaway Creatives with Bourne mental health charity Don’t Lose Hope.  Charlie has starred in adverts and worked on music videos, and trained at Mountview and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
